Who We Are

Local hands, quietly luxurious journeys

We are a small Leh-based studio of guides, drivers and trip designers. No call centres, no coach groups — just carefully sequenced days, altitude handled properly, and the kind of access that only comes from being from here.

  • Private departures only — your vehicle, your pace, no strangers on board.
  • Altitude-aware routing with built-in acclimatisation days and oxygen on board.
  • Handpicked stays: heritage houses, riverside camps and the valley’s best boutique hotels.
  • Every permit, entry fee and inner-line clearance arranged before you land.

Traveller Stories

What our guests take home

4.9 / 5 · 680+ reviews

They told us in advance exactly how simple the Padum rooms would be, which meant we arrived with the right expectations and loved every night. The walk into Phugtal is the most extraordinary thing either of us has done.

Elena & Marc Dubois Lyon, France · Zanskar & Phugtal

Eleven days, five passes over 5,000 m, and a night under the Hanle sky that made the whole thing worth it. They were also honest enough to talk me out of doing it on my first visit to Ladakh — I came back a year later and it was perfect.

David Okonkwo Toronto, Canada · Hanle, Umling La & Aryan Valley

Booked six days as a test and immediately wished we had booked twelve. The dawn shikara ride on Dal Lake with almost nobody else on the water is a memory I will keep for a very long time.

Sofia Marchetti Milan, Italy · The Great Kashmir Escape

Seven days, seven lakes, and a crew who had hot soup waiting every single evening. The Gadsar day is genuinely hard and the guide read the group perfectly — slowed us down, kept everyone together, got us all over the pass.

Yuki Tanaka Osaka, Japan · Kashmir Great Lakes Trek

Driving over the Zoji La instead of flying to Leh was the single best piece of travel advice we have ever been given. Thirteen days and not one wasted afternoon. The houseboat and the Pangong camp were both far better than the photos.

James & Priya Whitfield London, UK · Best of Kashmir & Ladakh

We were nervous about the altitude and they built the whole first three days around it. By Khardung La we felt completely fine. Tsering, our driver, stopped at places no itinerary mentions and knew every monk at Thiksey by name.

Good to Know

Travel questions, answered

  • May to September is the classic window — all passes open, lakes ice-free and long daylight. July and August are greenest in Nubra and busiest in Leh. For photographers and quiet roads, late May or the second half of September are our favourites. Winter trips (January–February) are possible for Chadar-style landscapes and snow leopard tracking, with hotels heated and routes shortened.

  • Every itinerary is built around it. You spend your first 24–36 hours in Leh at an easy pace, then gain height gradually rather than driving straight to a high lake. Vehicles carry oxygen cylinders and a pulse oximeter, drivers are trained to spot early symptoms, and we keep a doctor on call. If anyone needs an extra rest day, we rearrange the plan — never the other way round.

  • Yes. Inner Line Permits for Nubra, Pangong, Tso Moriri, Hanle and Umling La are arranged before you arrive, along with monastery entries and wildlife-area fees where applicable. You only need to send passport scans a week ahead.

  • Handpicked boutique properties, heritage homes and the best available camps — chosen for location, warm water, heating and food rather than star ratings. In remote valleys the honest answer is that comfort is simple; we tell you exactly what to expect for each night and offer upgrades where they genuinely exist.

  • Every trip we run is private and every published route is a starting point. Add a trek, extend Nubra, slow the driving days, combine Kashmir with Ladakh over the Zoji La — tell us what matters and we redraw the plan around it at no extra design cost.

  • Full refund of the advance up to 30 days before departure, 50% between 30 and 15 days, and no refund inside 15 days — but we always try to move your dates instead. If a road or pass closes for reasons outside anyone’s control, we reroute at no extra cost and refund any unused services.
